Omnipotence

چکیده
Should an omnipotent being be able to limit its own power? Along with Swinburne, Dean Zimmerman answers in the affirmative. My intuitions push opposite direction. The ability one's power constitutes a vulnerability. In this paper, I argue that great deal hangs on issue. If God cannot revoke His omnipotence, then only necessarily existent can ever create anything truly ex nihilo. Moreover, if it turns out theism entails idealism. No wonder resists. prefer take plunge and endorse idealism!

This paper sets the archetypal relationship between the tyrannical, devouring father and his sons in the context of a disjunction in the parental couple (syzygy) whereby the role of the maternal feminine is eclipsed and excluded. This is shown to originate in an omnipotent defence against infantile dependence on the mother. Successful liberation from the father's tyranny requires the restoratio...
متن کاملAssessing the omnipotence of inositol hexakisphosphate.
This review assesses the authenticity of inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP(6)) being a wide-ranging regulator of many important cellular functions. Against a background in which the possible importance of localized InsP(6) metabolism is discussed, there is the facile explanation that InsP(6) is merely an "inactive" precursor for the diphosphorylated inositol phosphates. Indeed, many of the propos...
